The İspenç is Turkey's native ornamental bantam: five-toed (polydactyly) and feather-legged — two rare traits in one bird. A relative of the Booted Bantam (Sabelpoot) and the Barbu d'Uccle, but a separate breed. Despite being ornamental it lays 180-200 eggs a year on only 60-65 g of feed a day; the 17 EE-recognised colours, the rose comb, a history reaching 5th-century mosaics, and foot-feathering care.
